Which food?
Kibble, wet food, or home-cooked diet?
Premium kibble for large-breed dogs, with quality animal proteins and joint support, are well suited. The size of the kibble must be adapted to its large jaw.
Amounts
How much should you give?
The ration depends on weight, age and activity; it is divided into two meals to limit bloating.
| Weight | Daily amount | Meals/day |
|---|---|---|
| 23 - 27 kg | 250 - 320 g | 2 |
| 27 - 32 kg | 285 - 365 g | 2 |
| 32 - 36 kg | 325 - 395 g | 2 |
Change
Managing the food transition
Any dietary transition takes place over seven to ten days.
Hydration
Water: do not overlook it
Fresh water at all times; special attention in hot weather, as it gets out of breath faster than a long-snouted dog.
Little extras
Treats, in moderation
Treats should remain limited and be counted in the ration.
Good habits
For a top-notch bowl
- Avoid intense exercise just before and after meals.
- Monitor the figure: the ribs should be easy to feel.
- Serve the meal in a bowl suited to its wide jaw.
Never give
Chocolate, grapes, onion, garlic, xylitol, alcohol and cooked bones should be avoided.
