Pedibase is a free directory of dog and cat breeders that helps prospective owners find a registered breeder nearby, with 44,000 breeders across 27 European countries.
What Pedibase does
Pedibase helps you find a breeder of your chosen breed near you. Choose a breed and an area, and Pedibase shows you breeders on a map and gives you access to breed listings covering temperament, health, costs, and care needs.
You can then contact the breeder directly. Pedibase doesn't sell animals; it connects you with breeders directly, with no intermediaries.
What sets Pedibase apart
Pedibase stands out for its public rules, transparency about listing sources, and the breadth of its directory.
- A public ethical charter. Pedibase does not accept resellers, intermediaries, or listings for an unusually large number of breeds. No animals are sold on the site, and a listing is suspended immediately when a substantiated report is received. Read our ethical charter
- Transparency about listing sources. A listing is created either by the breeder or by Pedibase using public information. In the latter case, the breeder has not approved it unless they claim it. Any breeder can request free corrections or removal of their listing.
- A wide-ranging directory. Pedibase lists 44,000 breeders and covers 438 dog and cat breeds across 27 countries, with the site available in 7 languages.
- Breed listings that also explain the demands. Each breed listing covers temperament, health, and costs, as well as the demands of the breed: we'd rather discourage an unsuitable adoption.
- Moderated reviews from prospective owners. Reviews on a breeder listing are written by prospective owners who have contacted the breeder, and are moderated.
Who uses Pedibase
Pedibase serves two groups: prospective owners looking for a breeder, and breeders completing their listing.
- Prospective owners, For example:
- a family choosing between two breeds and wanting to compare their temperament, health, and costs;
- someone looking for an LOF- or LOOF-registered breeder in their area;
- someone looking for a kitten of a specific breed and searching for nearby breeders.

The team behind Pedibase
Pedibase is a project by Aurion, a web agency based in Le Mans for over 10 years. Aurion is a limited liability company with share capital of €22,000, registered with the Le Mans Trade and Companies Register under number 813 425 022, with its registered office at 1 rue Pasteur, 72000 Le Mans.
