As of September 30, 2026, the Australian Shepherd is the dog breed with the most breeders listed on Pedibase in France: 450 breeders.

The Australian Shepherd (450 breeders) leads the Chihuahua (358) and Golden Retriever (294). Each of the ten breeds in the table has between 167 and 450 breeders listed in France. These figures count breeders listed on Pedibase, not puppies born or adopted: the most widely listed breed isn't necessarily the most adopted.

As of September 30, 2026, the Maine Coon is the cat breed with the most breeders listed on Pedibase in France: 926 breeders.

The Maine Coon alone has 926 breeders, more than three times as many as the second-place Birman (259), and more than the next four breeds combined (831 breeders). As with dogs, this ranking counts listed breeders, not kittens born or adopted.

As of September 29, 2026, Italy has the most German Shepherd breeders listed on Pedibase: 769, compared with 259 in France and 237 in Germany.

Italy has nearly three times as many German Shepherd breeders listed as France. These differences also reflect Pedibase's uneven coverage across countries; they don't, by themselves, measure the breed's popularity in each country.
