Gaelic-Wheaten's

Gaelic-Wheaten's in Slangerup breeds Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers based on the Irish type of the breed. The kennel places emphasis on quality and on the dogs' physical as well as mental health. The breed has been part of the breeder's life since 1988, while the kennel name was registered in 1992. The breeding work follows the recommendations in the breed-specific breeding strategy, RAS. Only breeding dogs that have been tested in accordance with these recommendations are used. The aim is to preserve the special type while also having health as a central consideration in the selection of breeding dogs. All breeding dogs have been DNA-tested clear of PLN, degenerative myelopathy, Locus B and RBP4. The Wheatens included in the breeding programme have also been X-rayed for HD and, where possible, eye examined. Gaelic-Wheaten's has completed DKK breeder training and works with documented health examinations in the breeding programme.
