Birkebo

Birkebo is a dog breeder in Arden focusing on Flat-Coated Retrievers. The breed is described as a cheerful and eager-to-work dog that learns quickly, thrives on meaningful tasks and forms close bonds with its people. The breeding programme is based on experience with Flat-Coats dating back to 1984. When planning litters, Birkebo works to safeguard the breed’s qualities as a hunting dog. Emphasis is placed on dogs with both physical health and a well-functioning temperament, so that the breed’s joy of work and versatility can be preserved. According to the breeder’s experience, many of the dogs reach an age of more than ten years. Every year, Birkebo brings puppies and their families together for a puppy reunion, where the community around the breed is at the centre. The breeder also offers advice and guidance as part of the ongoing contact. Birkebo has completed DKK’s breeder education.
