What is a puppy and kitten fair, and why visit in Belgium in 2027?

A puppy and kitten fair is a sales exhibition where breeders present their puppies and kittens to the public over a weekend, usually at an exhibition center, a racetrack, or a convention center. You can see dozens of dog and cat breeds in one place, talk with breeders, and sometimes leave with an animal, provided it is of legal age and has an up-to-date health record. A veterinary check is carried out before opening to the public, and visitors’ pets are not allowed.

Fairs are organized by specialist touring organizers that move from city to city throughout the year, plus a few major pet fairs with a breeder area. Each fair is listed above with its official website: that’s where you’ll find opening hours, tickets, and the list of confirmed exhibitors.

A fair is still a quick sale: take the time to check the breeder, their ethical charter, and living conditions, and don’t hesitate to follow up with the breeder after the fair. You can also prepare your visit by spotting the breeders listed on Pedibase around the fair’s city.

Prepare for your visit to a puppy and kitten fair

Check health and age

A puppy or kitten cannot be transferred before eight weeks. Ask for the health record, the date of the first vaccines, and the veterinary certificate provided at the time of sale.

Ask for the paperwork

Microchip identification, breeder number, sales contract and, for an animal registered in an origins registry, the birth certificate or pedigree: everything must be provided on the day.

Ask the breeder questions

Where do the parents live, how many litters per year, what health tests are done for the breed? A passionate breeder will gladly answer and offer a visit to the breeder.

Avoid impulse buying

Pick a breed and a budget before you go, compare several breeders, and don’t hesitate to leave without a puppy: a good breeder will give you time to think.

Frequently asked questions about puppy and kitten fairs 2027 in Belgium

Puppy and kitten fair season runs mainly from January to April, with a second wave from September to November. Organizers announce dates throughout the year: confirmed 2027 fairs are dated above; the others appear as “dates to be confirmed” until the official announcement.

Expect around €5–€10 per adult, with a reduced rate for children and free entry for toddlers; major fairs in capital cities cost more. The exact price is listed on each fair’s website, linked from its page.

Yes, if the animal is at least eight weeks old, identified, vaccinated, and the breeder provides the sales documents required by the country’s regulations (vet certificate, transfer certificate, health record or passport). However, many breeders prefer a reservation followed by pickup at the breeding facility.

No: for health reasons, visitors’ pets are not allowed at puppy and kitten fairs. Only exhibitors’ animals, checked by a veterinarian before opening, are present.

Organizers select registered breeders and require a veterinary check, but that does not replace your own checks. Research the breeder, ask to see the parents, and read reviews before committing. Our ethical charter summarizes what to check.

Use the map at the top of the page: each marker matches a 2027 fair in Belgium. Click it to see the dates, address, and official website. The list is sorted by month so you can spot upcoming events at a glance.

Contact a breeder directly for the breed you are interested in. Pedibase lists dog and cat breeders by breed and by city: you can contact them, visit the breeder, and reserve a puppy or kitten from an upcoming litter without waiting for a fair.
