In the Exotic, prevention is essential. You must monitor breathing, the condition of the eyes, dentition and changes in weight, while consulting promptly in case of persistent tearing, respiratory discomfort, difficulty eating or decreased activity.
Breathing difficulties : The flat face can promote noisy breathing, lower heat tolerance and respiratory discomfort depending on the degree of brachycephaly.
Dental and jaw problems : The head conformation can be accompanied by dental misalignment, grasping difficulties or more delicate oral hygiene.
Eye irritations : The large exposed eyes and frequent tearing require regular cleaning to limit irritations and certain eye conditions.
Overweight : Its moderate activity and tendency to gain weight increase the risk of obesity if portions and physical exertion are not managed.

The Exotic tolerates a temperate indoor life better than an environment exposed to extremes. Its flattened face can make it less comfortable in high heat and in poorly ventilated atmospheres. In winter, it appreciates the comfort of the home, without being as sensitive as a hairless breed.

The puppy primary vaccination for Exotic is given in several injections 4 weeks apart, followed by a first booster at 1 year.
