The California Spangled is an American breed created in the 1970s at the initiative of Paul Casey, who wanted to recreate in a domestic cat the appearance of a spotted feline observed in Tanzania. Having become very rare, it remains today mainly known among enthusiasts of cats with a wild look.

The California Spangled is a semi-foreign type cat, long, muscular and supple. Its wedge-shaped head has well-developed cheekbones, a slightly marked stop and a powerful muzzle. The ears are medium-sized, rather short, wide at the base and rounded at the tip. The eyes, wide open and almond-shaped, match the coat color.
