The Solingen-Wald kennel has been dedicated to breeding Berger des Shetland since 1976. After leaving Solingen, the household now lives in the Westerwald with its small group of Shelties. The dogs are part of everyday family life and live together with the kennel in the house, rather than being housed in separate facilities. Outings, walks and trips in the motorhome are also taken with the dogs. To ensure harmonious coexistence and allow older animals to retain their established place, the kennel deliberately keeps the number of dogs manageable. Litters are therefore rare and carefully planned. The breeding dogs have been assessed for hip dysplasia and tested for MDR1 and CEA. Every puppy is microchipped and examined by recognised DOK/ECVO ophthalmologists. The kennel is affiliated with the Shetland Sheepdog Club Deutschland e.V. and places importance on raising its Shelties in a family environment.
