The Schloß Holte dog breeding kennel is dedicated to the Havanese and is based in Schloß Holte. A long-held wish for a breeding program of their own gave rise to a family project: A Havanese female, who now belongs to the older generation, founded the breeding program twelve years ago and had four litters. Further litters are only planned if the entire extended family agrees. The puppies grow up in the living room and therefore experience everyday family life at close quarters. From the fifth week onward, they regularly go into the garden. Through the open connection to the kitchen, the young dogs become familiar with many household sounds and routines, including the vacuum cleaner. In this way, they receive a wide range of familiar impressions from the very beginning. Car rides, walks in the nearby forest, visits from children and rehearsals by a singing ensemble are also part of the puppies’ experiences. It is important to the breeding program that the puppies do not live in isolation, but are gently introduced to different situations. Feedback from previous families describes the puppies as relaxed, well-balanced and not very fearful.
