The Havanese breeding facility von der Badner Höhe is located in Baden-Baden and is affiliated with the Verband Deutscher Kleinhundezüchter e.V. The dogs are kept and bred on a manageable scale. For the matings, only parent dogs are selected whose patellae have been assessed bilaterally as Grade 0 and who have a valid eye examination with the finding “cataract-free”. A central part of raising the puppies is the careful early imprinting of the Havanese puppies. They grow up in the house in close contact with the family as well as the adult dogs of the breeding facility. This allows them to experience their everyday life from the very beginning in a family environment. The puppies gradually become familiar with different sounds, floor surfaces, people and animals. Play and sports equipment are also part of their experiences. When appropriate for their stage of development, short outings and car rides are included in the programme. The aim of the breeding facility is to prepare the young dogs as well as possible for their future lives and to give them a successful start as long-term companions.
