The cattery vom Änderhaus in Paderborn is dedicated to British Shorthair, British Longhair and Chartreux. Since 1986, the cats have been kept in a small family setting: They live as family members without kennel housing and remain permanently in the breeder’s household. The focus is on a balanced temperament as well as physical and genetic health. The breeding cats are examined by cardiac ultrasound for HCM and tested for the PKD1 gene. Particular attention is paid to pure blue British Shorthair cats without the introduction of trendy colours or extreme Persians; this line is described as rare and not overbred. The breeding is non-commercial and comprises no more than approximately two litters annually. The cats receive premium food and home-prepared meals. Show successes with red papers and nominations for Best in Show are mentioned. The cattery is a member of Rassekatzen Bielefeld, a patronage club of the 1. DEKZV.
