Styria Bulldogs

Styria Bulldogs is a dog breeder based in Auersbach, working with the English Toy Terrier. The focus of this presentation is also the subject of English Bulldogs and a breeding philosophy that emphasizes health, vitality, fertility, and a less exaggerated appearance. David Leavitt is named as an important influence for this approach, as he is regarded as the founder of the breed described. As early as the beginning of the 1970s, he developed a breeding concept in the USA that was based on a university program from cattle breeding and deliberately incorporated various dogs. Among others, Bullmastiff, American Bulldog, and healthy bulldog-like dogs were incorporated into the English Bulldog of that time. The aim was to strengthen the Bulldogs’ quality of life and zest for life and to make them practical family dogs again, who could also cope better with summer temperatures.
