Kennel Heegårds in Silkeborg breeds Cavalier King Charles Spaniel on a small scale. The kennel name is based on a family tradition, where English Setter was previously bred. The first cavalier arrived in 2017, and the fascination with the breed became the foundation for the current breeding program. The goal is healthy, breed-typical puppies that can thrive as family dogs. The breeding dogs meet both mandatory and voluntary health requirements. They are MRI-scanned for SM, heart-scanned, DNA-tested, and examined for patella and eyes. There are currently no puppy plans, and the kennel has no waiting list. The dogs are part of everyday life and are trained according to age in, among other things, obedience, body control, showing, and agility. The kennel participates in DKK and club shows and has completed DKK breeder training. Cavalierklubben Danmark named Kennel Heegårds bronze show breeder of the year in 2022, silver show breeder in 2023 and 2024, and gold show breeder in 2025.
