del Monastero nero is dedicated to breeding the Maremma and Abruzzo Shepherd Dog, also known as the Cane da Pastore Maremmano Abruzzese. Their special presence, as well as their original purpose, speaks in favour of breeding these impressive livestock guardian dogs. The kennel is affiliated with the Verband für das Deutsche Hundewesen (VDH) e.V. For nearly three decades, livestock guardian dogs have accompanied the work of the breeding establishment. The many years of practical experience were deepened through exchanges with an early Maremmano breeder in Germany, as well as through repeated stays in Italy with breeders and shepherds. In this way, the development of the breed remains closely connected to its country of origin and its field of work. The dogs of del Monastero nero live in their familiar home environment and can be met there. The focus is on a sound knowledge of the breed and passing on the experience gathered over many years concerning the Maremma and Abruzzo Shepherd Dog.
