The of Burning Mountain kennel in Nonnweiler stands for a loving and responsible breeding programme for Shetland Sheepdogs. These small herding dogs are particularly valued for their intelligence, quick comprehension and lively enthusiasm for work. Their friendly and peaceful nature towards people, fellow dogs and other animals also shapes the breeding goal. The roots of the breeding operation go back to the period from 1980 to 1999, when sable-and-white and tricolour Rough Collies were kept. Even then, Shelties were part of the breeding environment. From 1994 onwards, the Shetland Sheepdog increasingly became the focus. The Shetland Sheepdog Club Deutschland e.V. is listed as the certifying organisation. In addition to the Shelties, Smooth Collies also have their place in the history of of Burning Mountain. The first female of this variety joined the household in 2012 after a lengthy search and established the kennel’s own Smooth Collie line. Today, no longer used for breeding, she enjoys her retirement in good health.
