It all depends on where your kitten comes from
The Maine Coon is ideally purchased from a declared breeding cattery that is transparent about its breeding cats, its health tests and the kitten socialization conditions. Adoption through an association or a shelter remains possible, but it is rarer for this breed.

A price that seems too good to be true?
- Beware of kittens offered at an abnormally low price without clear documents or a health history.
- Ask for the breeding cats’ health test results and verify the kitten’s identification before any reservation.
- A large kitten that is poorly socialized or removed too early from its littermates can cause lasting difficulties in behavior and adaptation.
FAQ
Your questions about price
Answers to common questions from prospective owners.
The price difference is mainly explained by the seriousness of the breeding operation, the health tests carried out, registration with the LOOF, the quality of kitten socialization and the value of the lineage.
Not necessarily. An abnormally low price should prompt you to check the identification, documents, the kitten's health status and the guarantees provided regarding the parents and the breeding operation.
