Needs change over time
Puppy up to 4 months : Divide the daily ration into four meals to support development.
Young and adult : Divide the daily ration into two meals, in the morning and in the evening.
Senior : Adjust the energy intake, digestibility and texture to the body condition and veterinary recommendations.
Which food?
Kibble, wet food, or home-cooked diet?
High-quality kibble providing animal proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins in suitable proportions is an appropriate option. The specific choice must be adjusted with the veterinarian in case of digestive sensitivity, allergy or illness.
Amounts
How much should you give?
The daily ration must follow the manufacturer's recommendations then be adapted to body condition, activity level and the veterinarian's advice. In adults, it is preferably divided into two meals.

Managing the food transition

Fresh, clean water must remain available at all times, with increased vigilance after activity and in hot weather.

Treats, in moderation
Treats should remain occasional and be deducted from the daily ration. They can be used as rewards during positive training.

Never give
Chocolate, grapes and raisins, onion, garlic, xylitol, alcohol, caffeine, macadamia nuts and cooked bones should be avoided, as they can cause poisoning, digestive lesions or other serious complications.
