The von Gonsenheim cattery in Dresden is dedicated to the Birman. The enthusiasm for cats goes back to childhood, when contact with a tabby cat shaped the desire for pets of their own. After years in which family and work left little room for pets, the first cats of their own moved in in 2004. The choice deliberately fell on the Birman. The cattery particularly appreciates this breed for its family-friendly nature and its ability to build relationships with several people. At the same time, every cat remains an independent character that decides for itself when and to whom it gives affection. This individual side of the animals is especially valued. After careful consideration, the small von Gonsenheim cattery was established. Its name recalls the connection with a district of Mainz, the family’s former centre of life. The cattery is now based in Dresden, where the Birman was still little known and is intended to be brought more into focus.
