The vom graunzigen Grauen kennel in Heidenheim breeds Old German Shepherd Dogs on a small, deliberately selected scale. The selection of breeding females and stud partners is based on health as well as genetic, mental and anatomical suitability. Trainability and vitality also play an important role. The kennel is affiliated with the Schäferhundverein RSV2000 e.V. The dogs live both in the house and in the kennel facility. The puppies are born in the home and move to a heated rearing area after supplementary feeding begins. There, in addition to the whelping box, they have access to an area covered with bark mulch, which they can use as a toilet area. When planning the matings, fertility, mating and birthing behaviour, as well as rearing, are also taken into account. For the young dogs, contact with different people, including children, is part of their early socialisation. They get to know their surroundings, accompany walks with the adult dogs and visit the dog training ground.
