Somerbarn is based in Radstock and is licensed by Bath and North East Somerset Council for dog breeding. Alongside its Labrador programme, the breeder also holds an Animal Activity licence covering the sale of pets in connection with its Ragdoll cat breeding.
The Labrador breeding programme brings together working and show lines. Its stated aim is to produce responsive dogs that are straightforward to train and have excellent temperaments, with breeding taking place in a domestic family setting.
For its Ragdolls, Somerbarn describes itself as the only licensed cat breeder within its council area. The kittens are reared in the breeder's bedroom and grow up as part of everyday family life. This home-based approach allows the cats to live closely alongside the household from their earliest weeks.
