Shim-Bu

Shim-Bu is a breeding kennel for Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers in Ikast, where health is a central consideration in the breeding work. The aim is to preserve a healthy and well-functioning line, and each potential parent pair is therefore carefully assessed before being included in the breeding program. The breeding dogs must be healthy and have completed the relevant examinations. Their hips are X-rayed and graded A or B, and the dogs undergo DNA testing so that two carriers are not paired, with the risk of sick puppies. In addition, the parent dogs have their eyes examined once a year. Only when these conditions have been met is the decision made to use the dogs in the breeding program. The puppies grow up as part of everyday life in a home environment. They stay close to people and gradually become familiar with ordinary impressions such as furniture, sounds from the kitchen, vacuuming and the radio. This form of upbringing gives the puppies experience with everyday activities from an early age.
