Shadow of mine is a Border Collie kennel in Bakum that looks back on many years of experience with dogs, further training and acquired specialist knowledge. The kennel sees breeding as a carefully prepared selection of suitable parent animals to preserve and potentially further develop the breed – not as mere multiplication. It is registered as a protected VDH kennel and affiliated with the Club für Britische Hütehunde e.V. The focus is on balanced, attentive and eager-to-learn Border Collies that are suitable as family dogs and bring different aptitudes with them. Whether herding, obedience or agility: their future activities can be varied. From the kennel’s perspective, what matters is species-appropriate keeping with close integration into everyday life, as well as mental stimulation and human affection. The puppies leave with an EU pet passport, a final veterinary examination, a microchip, up-to-date vaccination and regular deworming; their eyes are also examined. When placing the puppies, Shadow of mine takes care to ensure that future owners can meet the needs of a Border Collie. Even after the puppies leave, the kennel continues to support the new families with advice if desired.
