Selectcoons is a small, officially registered and officially notified Maine Coon breeding program in the heart of Linz in Austria. The focus is on breeding this cat breed on a manageable scale. Special attention is paid to the animals’ health and a stable temperament.
The breeding program places great value on comprehensive health monitoring of all cats. Heart and kidneys are examined using ultrasound. In addition, X-ray examinations are carried out with regard to hip dysplasia (HD) and the patella, in order to have important physical characteristics professionally assessed.
Selectcoons’ examination program also includes a genetic package. This supplements imaging checks of the heart, kidneys, hips and kneecaps with genetic tests. The breeding profile therefore focuses on Maine Coons whose physical health and stable temperament are at the center of the breeding work.
