The Border Collie breeding program o kurí in Lauterhofen pursues the goal of breeding healthy, willing-to-work and even-tempered dogs. In addition to health and temperament, the breeding program takes the Border Collie’s working abilities into account, without viewing beauty as the sole criterion. After all, what is perceived as beautiful always remains a matter of personal perspective. The kennel name has its origins in the Māori language of New Zealand. Fascination with the country and reports about the work of Border Collies on large sheep farms led to an interest in this breed. Since 2004, the Border Collie has shaped the o kurí breeding program, which belongs to the Club für Britische Hütehunde e.V.
