The kennel from the Roses of Scotland in Reichelsheim is dedicated to breeding solid-coloured and parti-coloured English Cocker Spaniel. The connection to dog breeding has existed since childhood; previously, German Shepherd Dogs were bred in the family for more than four decades. With the first English Cocker Spaniel, a special bond with this breed developed. The breeding programme is affiliated with the Spaniel-Club Deutschland e.V. and places great importance on preventive healthcare for its dogs and offspring. The breeding dogs are examined by means of DNA tests for breed-specific diseases such as prcd-PRA, familial nephropathy and AON. In addition, tests for AMS and often also for CDPA, DM, CDDY and the IVDD risk are included in the health programme. The selection of examinations is guided by new medical findings. Furthermore, hip X-rays and patella examinations are available for all dogs. In this way, the kennel combines its long-standing connection to dog breeding with a health-oriented breeding programme for English Cocker Spaniel.
