Akarana is dedicated to breeding Coton de Tuléar and has many years of experience with dogs: its beginnings date back to 1980 in Bonn, while the first Coton female arrived in 2014. Since 2019, the breeding operation has been based in the Kleve district of North Rhine-Westphalia, near Kranenburg. The kennel name is internationally protected by VDH and F.C.I. The breeding program follows the breed standard of VDH and FCI; Akarana places particular emphasis on temperament and health. In addition to the required eye and patella examinations, voluntary genetic tests for known diseases of the breed are taken into account, including CMR2, BNAt, HU, DM, PH1, vWD1 and PRA. The puppies receive pedigrees from VDH and F.C.I. The dogs live closely integrated into family life in the house. The puppies are raised lovingly and in accordance with their developmental stages following Trumler, so that they can develop into dogs with sound temperaments. When they leave, they have been dewormed several times, microchipped and vaccinated, are house-trained according to their age, and are accustomed to everyday impressions, children, other and large dogs, and car journeys.
