Il Pastore Transumante is a dog breeding farm in Sarezzano devoted to the Abruzzese Maremma Shepherd. It complies with animal-care rules and centres its work on physical and behavioural well-being. The dogs share a natural setting with alpacas, goats, sheep, pigs and chickens.
Rather than following an intensive model, the farm describes its approach as extensive and biologically oriented, joining professional selection with tradition and the local environment. It also contributes to conserving rare Italian working breeds, especially livestock guardians used against wolves in Italy and abroad.
The breed, originally from Abruzzo, is known for strength, hardiness, courage and versatility. While selection has made it more domestic and tolerant of strangers, sometimes weakening its guarding ability, Il Pastore Transumante focuses on working lines suited to protecting flocks.
