The Manchester Terrier originates from the north of England, more precisely from the Manchester region. In the 19th century, it was used for hunting rats and other pests, a job in which its liveliness, speed and determination worked wonders. The breed has been recognized by the FCI since 1954.

The Manchester Terrier is a small dog, compact, harmonious and built with elegance. Its head is long and well proportioned, its body is distinguished and rather short, and its coat is short, shiny, smooth and close. Its coat is black with very distinct tan markings.
