Which food?

A good-quality industrial diet may suit him, provided it supplies all the necessary nutrients and meets the needs of an active medium-sized dog.
Amounts
How much should you give?
The daily ration must be adjusted according to age, size, physical activity and body condition. Regular weight monitoring helps to fine-tune the quantities over time.
| Weight | Daily amount | Meals/day |
|---|---|---|
| 8 - 10 kg | 174 - 238 g | 2 |
| 10 - 12 kg | 206 - 282 g | 2 |
| 12 - 14 kg | 238 - 326 g | 2 |
Change
Managing the food transition
Any change in diet must be gradual over several days in order to limit digestive disorders and to observe good tolerance of the new ration.
Hydration
Water: do not overlook it
Clean, fresh water must remain available at all times, especially after exercise, in mild to warm weather or during shedding periods.
Little extras
Treats, in moderation
Treats can be useful for training and motivation, but they must remain moderate and integrated into the overall energy intake of the day.
Good habits
For a top-notch bowl
- Split the ration into 2 meals per day.
- Adjust the quantities to the level of exercise and body condition.
- Weigh the dog regularly to adjust the ration if necessary.
- Introduce any new food gradually.
Never give
As with other dogs, you should avoid in particular chocolate, onion, garlic, grapes, xylitol, alcohol, cooked bones and very fatty or very salty foods, as they can cause digestive or neurological disorders or sometimes serious poisoning.
