# Feeding your Newfoundland well

The diet of the Newfoundland must be planned for a giant dog, with a good-quality ration suited to its age, its activity level and its joint sensitivity. Regular meals, permanent access to water and monitoring of body condition are essential throughout its life.
A menu for every age
## Their needs change as they grow
- Puppy: Growth food adapted to the expected size, divided into three meals, without unnecessary calcium supplementation.
- Adult: Controlled ration in two meals, adjusted to ideal weight and actual activity.
- Senior: Digestible food, possibly less energy-dense, with joint and dental monitoring.

Complete, high-quality kibble formulated for large or very large dogs generally suits the Newfoundland well. For the puppy, a large-breed growth formula is important to support gradual bone development without excess energy intake.
