# Feeding your Maltipoo well

The Maltipoo needs a complete, balanced, good-quality diet, adapted to its age, weight and activity level. In this small companion dog, regular meals and controlling treats matter just as much as the quality of the ingredients.
A menu for every age
## Their needs change as they grow
- Puppy: More frequent meals and a diet for small-breed growth help cover energy needs without overloading digestion.
- Adult: Two meals per day with a small-dog formula generally help maintain a good balance between energy, digestion, and weight.
- Senior: A more digestible diet, adapted to actual activity and veterinary follow-up, helps preserve muscle mass and overall comfort.
Which food?
## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?
Premium kibble formulated for small dogs generally suits the Maltipoo very well when it provides quality proteins and good digestibility. A home-prepared or mixed ration can also be considered if it is properly balanced with the help of a veterinarian.

## How much should you feed?
The daily amount must be adjusted according to the dog's actual weight, age, neutering and activity, then divided into regular meals. It is better to rely on the manufacturer's recommendations and readjust them according to the observed body condition.

### Never feed these foods
As with other dogs, you should avoid chocolate, grapes, onion, garlic, avocado, alcohol, sweeteners such as xylitol, cooked bones and very fatty or very salty foods, as they can cause digestive, neurological, liver or cardiac disorders that are sometimes serious.
