# Feeding your Labradoodle well

The Labradoodle’s diet must be adjusted to its size, age, activity level and body condition. A complete, good-quality food, highly digestible and rich in suitable animal proteins helps support its muscle mass, energy and the quality of its coat.

A menu for every age

## Their needs change as they grow

- Puppy: Growth food adapted to the expected size, divided into three meals, without unnecessary calcium supplementation.
- Adult: Controlled ration in two meals, adjusted to ideal weight and actual activity.
- Senior: Digestible food, possibly less energy-dense, with joint and dental monitoring.

Which food?

## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?

Premium kibble for a dog of an appropriate size often provides a practical and balanced base for the Labradoodle. Depending on the dog’s profile, a wet, mixed, or home-prepared diet formulated with a professional may also be suitable, provided it remains complete and well portioned. In sensitive individuals, ingredient quality and digestibility deserve particular attention.

## How much should you feed?

The daily amount varies greatly depending on the size of the Labradoodle, ranging from small format to standard, as well as on the dog’s actual activity. It is often useful to divide the ration into 2 meals, or even 3 for greedy individuals or young dogs, in order to improve digestive comfort and control energy intake.

## Don't overlook water

Clean, fresh water must remain available at all times. Needs increase in hot weather, after exercise, during trips and in dogs fed mainly on kibble. Good hydration contributes to overall comfort and the proper functioning of the body.

## Treats in moderation

Treats can be useful for the Labradoodle’s training, but they must remain measured and integrated into the total caloric intake. It is preferable to choose simple, digestible rewards that are easy to portion, then to vary with non-food reinforcements such as play or encouragement.

## Make mealtimes count

- Weigh the ration each day rather than serving by volume.
- Avoid intense exercise just before and after the meal.
- Deduct training treats from the daily ration.

### Never feed these foods

As with other dogs, you should avoid chocolate, grapes, raisins, onion, garlic, avocado, alcohol, cooked bones, very fatty foods and products containing xylitol. These substances can cause serious digestive, neurological, metabolic disorders or potentially fatal poisoning.
