Origins

## Where does it come from?

The Kromfohrländer is a German breed of relatively recent creation. Its development is associated with crossbreeding involving in particular the Wire Fox Terrier and the Grand Griffon Vendéen, under the impetus of Ilse Schleifenbaum in North Rhine-Westphalia. Its name comes from the place-name Krom Fohr, from which the breed derives its identity.

Appearance

## What does it look like?

The Kromfohrländer is a medium-sized dog, harmonious and robust. It exists in 2 coat varieties, rough or smooth, both of medium length, with a dense coat and a soft undercoat. The coat is predominantly white with light brown, reddish-brown or dark brown markings, often clearly visible on the head. Its expression is lively, with triangular ears carried high and oval eyes medium to dark brown.

Temperament

## Temperament and personality

The Kromfohrländer is a pleasant dog to live with, affectionate with its family and able to adapt well to its home. It is generally not much of a hunter, neither aggressive nor fearful, and often remains more reserved with strangers than with its loved ones. Its attachment to family life makes it a companion sensitive to the quality of the relationship with its owners.

Affectionate Playful Easy to train Sociable

Living together

## Living with children and other pets

On a daily basis, the Kromfohrländer likes to take part in household life and does not cope well with being left out for too long. He needs activity, regular walks and mental stimulation to stay comfortable in his paws. Without being hyperactive, he retains a nice liveliness and enjoys games, exercises and shared moments with his humans.

Training

## Training and socialization

The Kromfohrländer is known to be rather easy to train, because it likes to learn and to please its owner. A gentle, consistent education based on encouragement gives good results. Harsh methods should be avoided, because this breed responds better to a relationship of trust and to a regular framework.

Budget

## Price and budget for the Kromfohrländer

The Kromfohrländer is a rare breed, and its price mainly depends on the quality of the selection, the availability of bloodlines, and the seriousness of the breeding. The rarity of the breed can limit supply and lengthen the waiting time to find a well-cared-for puppy.
