# Feeding your Korean Jindo Dog well
South Korea
The Korean Jindo Dog does not have a big appetite. Quality commercial food or balanced home-made meals may suit it, provided they are adapted to its weight, its age and its activity level.
A menu for every age
## Their needs change as they grow
- Puppy: Growth food adapted to the expected size, divided into three meals, without unnecessary calcium supplementation.
- Adult: Controlled ration in two meals, adjusted to ideal weight and actual activity.
- Senior: Digestible food, possibly less energy-dense, with joint and dental monitoring.
Which food?
## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?
A quality industrial food is suitable for the breed. A home ration can also be offered based on raw meat, fresh vegetables and starchy foods, subject to an appropriate nutritional balance.
Portion sizes
## How much should you feed?
The ration must be adjusted to the dog's weight, age and activity. No quantified daily amount is set for the breed.

Changing food
## How to switch foods successfully
Any change in diet must be gradual in order to preserve digestion, by mixing the old and the new food over several days.

## Don't overlook water
Fresh water must remain available at all times, particularly after walks and in hot weather, which the breed is less tolerant of.

## Treats in moderation
Treats should remain occasional and be included in the overall ration so as not to unbalance the diet.

## Make mealtimes count
- Offer two daily meals at regular times.
- Choose quality commercial food or a balanced home-prepared diet.
- Adjust the ration to weight and activity level.
### Never feed these foods
Chocolate, grapes, xylitol, onion, garlic, alcohol, caffeine, macadamia nuts, cooked bones and very fatty or very salty foods are dangerous for dogs. In case of ingestion, contact a veterinarian quickly.
