The Hungarian Kuvasz is a very ancient working breed originating from Hungary. The Magyars used it for a long time to guard and protect herds against predators and thieves, and it also served for hunting. Its definitive recognition by the FCI dates from 1954, with an official standard published in its current version in 2000.

The Hungarian Kuvasz is a very large dog, powerful without being heavy, inscribed in a rectangle and endowed with a solid bone structure as well as developed musculature. Its elongated wedge-shaped head, its dark brown almond-shaped eyes, its V-shaped ears and its low-set tail contribute to its noble expression. Its coat is entirely white or ivory, with a long, dense, wavy hair and doubled by a softer undercoat, which gives it a full and protective silhouette.
