# Feeding your Hanover Hound well

Its diet must be of quality and adapted to its age, its size and its level of physical activity. Needs increase during periods of hunting or sustained work.
A menu for every age
## Their needs change as they grow
- Puppy: Choose a complete diet adapted to age, size and growth-related needs.
- Adult: Adjust the ration to the activity level, especially during the hunting season.
- Senior: Adapt the energy intake to age and activity in order to limit weight gain.
Which food?
## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?
A complete, quality diet, chosen according to age, size and intensity of activity, is suitable for the breed. During hunting season, richer foods can be offered if energy expenditure justifies it.
Portion sizes
## How much should you feed?
The daily amount must be adjusted to the dog’s actual activity. The ration can be increased during the hunting season, without exceeding its needs in order to prevent overweight.

### Never feed these foods
Chocolate, grapes, xylitol, onion, garlic, alcohol, caffeine, macadamia nuts, cooked bones and very fatty or very salty foods are dangerous for dogs. In case of ingestion, contact a veterinarian quickly.
