# Feeding your French Pointer well
France
Its diet must be balanced and adapted to its age, its weight and its activity level. A homemade ration made up of raw meat, starchy foods such as rice or pasta and fresh vegetables is recommended.
A menu for every age
## Their needs change as they grow
- Puppy: Growth food adapted to size, in three meals up to six months then two, without calcium supplement or intense exercise.
- Adult: Adjust the ration to weight and activity level, with particular vigilance regarding weight gain.
- Senior: Digestible food, less energy-dense, possibly with joint support, while monitoring weight and appetite.

## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?
A balanced home-prepared ration based on meat, starches and fresh vegetables may be suitable, provided that its composition properly covers the dog's nutritional needs.

## How much should you feed?
The daily amount depends on the density of the food, the ideal weight, sterilization and actual activity. An adult generally weighs from 16 to 32 kg. The manufacturer's guidelines serve as a starting point, then the ration is adjusted according to body condition.
