Feeding

# Feeding your Dobermann well

Germany

A high-quality industrial diet can cover the Dobermann's needs and support its energy level. The ration must be adapted to its size, its age and its activity, then divided into two daily meals.

A menu for every age

## Their needs change as they grow

- Puppy: Growth food adapted to its size, in three meals up to six months then two, without calcium supplement or intense exercise.
- Adult: Divide a high-quality industrial diet adapted to its weight and activity into two daily meals.
- Senior: Digestible food, less energy-dense, possibly with joint support, while monitoring weight and appetite.

Which food?

## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?

High-quality kibble providing essential nutrients is suitable, provided that its energy density and quantity match the dog’s activity level.

Portion sizes

## How much should you feed?

The quantity must be individualized according to weight, age, body condition and activity intensity, then checked regularly in order to avoid excesses.

| Weight | Daily amount | Meals per day |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 32 kg | 365 - 445 g | 2 |
| 32 - 38 kg | 415 - 510 g | 2 |
| 38 - 45 kg | 470 - 575 g | 2 - 3 |

Changing food

## How to switch foods successfully

Any change in diet must be gradual in order to preserve digestive tolerance and allow the dog to adapt to its new ration.

Hydration

## Don't overlook water

Clean, fresh water must remain available at all times, particularly after exercise and during hot periods.

A little extra

## Treats in moderation

Food rewards can support positive training, but their intake must remain moderate and be integrated into the daily ration.

Good habits

## Make mealtimes count

- Choose high-quality kibble suited to the size and activity level.
- Split the daily ration into two meals.
- Adjust the quantities according to weight, age, and body condition.

### Never feed these foods

Chocolate, grapes, xylitol, onion, garlic, alcohol, caffeine, macadamia nuts, cooked bones and very fatty or very salty foods are dangerous for the dog. In case of ingestion, contact a veterinarian quickly.
