# Feeding your Central Asian Shepherd Dog well

This giant dog needs a complete, digestible diet adapted to its age, weight, activity and body condition. The puppy’s growth must be slow and steady, without excess energy or improvised mineral supplementation.
A menu for every age
## Their needs change as they grow
- Puppy: Choose a formula for giant breeds, divided into three meals, and closely monitor the growth rate.
- Adult: Provide two daily meals and adjust the ration to the activity level and body condition.
- Senior: Favor a digestible diet, moderately energy-dense and adapted to mobility and any potential illnesses.

## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?
A quality industrial diet formulated for large or very large dogs is suitable, with digestible animal proteins and a controlled energy density. A home-prepared ration is possible only when it is formulated with a veterinary nutritionist in order to ensure balance in calcium, phosphorus, vitamins and trace elements.

Clean, fresh water must remain available at all times, especially after exercise and in hot weather. It is preferable to let the dog calm down before drinking very large quantities all at once.

### Never feed these foods
Chocolate, grapes and raisins, onion, garlic in large quantities, xylitol, alcohol, caffeine, macadamia nuts, cooked bones and very salty or very fatty foods are to be avoided, as they can cause poisoning, digestive lesions or pancreatitis.
