# Feeding your Burgos Pointer well

The diet must cover the needs of a large, very active hunting dog while maintaining an athletic silhouette. The ration varies greatly depending on age, weight, season and intensity of work.
A menu for every age
## Their needs change as they grow
- Puppy: Choose a complete food for a large-breed puppy and follow the growth curve without seeking too rapid weight gain.
- Adult: Adjust the energy density and the ration to the actual activity level, which can vary greatly between rest and hunting season.
- Senior: Preserve muscle mass with quality proteins and adjust the energy intake if activity decreases.
Which food?
## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?
A complete, good-quality diet, formulated for large adult dogs and adapted to the activity level, is suitable for the majority of individuals. For a hunting dog during the working period, the energy density can be increased gradually with the advice of a veterinarian.
