Feeding

# Feeding your Tiffany well

England

The Tiffany needs a complete, balanced, high-quality diet, adapted to its age, activity level and body condition. As it can be greedy, the portion must be controlled in order to avoid gradual weight gain.

A menu for every age

## Their needs change as they grow

- Kitten: A growth diet that is rich and digestible, split into several meals, helps harmonious development without excess.
- Adult: A complete ration adjusted to activity and neutering makes it possible to maintain ideal weight and good overall condition.
- Senior: With age, a formula that is easier to digest and careful monitoring of weight, hydration, and kidney function become important.

Which food?

## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?

A diet rich in good-quality animal proteins suits the Tiffany well. Complete kibble or wet food can be used alone or in mixed feeding, provided that the cat’s actual energy needs are respected and that easily digestible formulas are preferred.

Portion sizes

## How much should you feed?

The daily amount depends on weight, age, neutering, activity and the type of food chosen. It is preferable to rely on the manufacturer's recommendations and then adjust according to the body condition observed with the veterinarian.

| Weight | Daily amount | Meals per day |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 5 - 7 kg | 84 - 118 g | 2 |
| 7 - 10 kg | 112 - 156 g | 2 |
| 10 - 12 kg | 140 - 193 g | 2 |

Changing food

## How to switch foods successfully

Any dietary change should be made gradually over several days in order to limit digestive upsets and promote good acceptance. A slow transition is particularly useful for sensitive cats or those attached to their habits.

Hydration

## Don't overlook water

The Tiffany must always have access to clean, fresh water. Water intake can be improved with wet food, several water points in the home or a fountain, which is useful for urinary and kidney comfort.

A little extra

## Treats in moderation

Treats should remain occasional and included in the calculation of the daily ration. They can serve as a reward during play or training, but excess quickly promotes overweight in this greedy cat.

Good habits

## Make mealtimes count

- Weigh the ration regularly rather than pouring it by eye
- Spread the intake over the day to limit greediness
- Combine an appropriate diet and daily play to prevent overweight

### Never feed these foods

Chocolate, onion, garlic, grapes, alcohol, caffeine, cooked bones and many very fatty or salty products are dangerous for the cat. They can cause digestive, neurological, kidney or heart disorders and must never be offered.
