Feeding

# Feeding your Savannah well

United States

Very active and strongly muscled, the Savannah needs a diet sufficiently rich in proteins and fats, adapted to its morphology and its physical expenditure.

A menu for every age

## Their needs change as they grow

- Kitten: Growth food rich in protein, in several small meals, up to about twelve months.
- Adult: Adjust protein and fat intake to its strong musculature and its activity.
- Senior: Food adapted to the older cat, digestible and moderate in energy, with monitoring of weight, kidneys and teeth.

Which food?

## Kibble, wet food, or homemade meals?

He does not like industrial food much and may prefer a diet including chicken or beef meat, provided that the nutritional balance and the intake of proteins and fats are sufficient.

Portion sizes

## How much should you feed?

The ration must be adapted to the weight, musculature and activity level of each individual, with the advice of a veterinarian to preserve nutritional balance.

| Weight | Daily amount | Meals per day |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 7 - 9 kg | 108 - 150 g | 2 |
| 9 - 12 kg | 136 - 188 g | 2 |
| 12 - 14 kg | 164 - 225 g | 2 |

Changing food

## How to switch foods successfully

Any dietary change must be gradual in order to give the digestive system time to adapt.

Hydration

## Don't overlook water

Fresh water must remain available at all times, especially since the Savannah is very active and naturally enjoys water.

A little extra

## Treats in moderation

Treats must remain occasional and be integrated into the overall dietary intake.

Good habits

## Make mealtimes count

- Choose a balanced diet rich in quality proteins
- Adjust the ration to the weight and physical expenditure
- Ask the veterinarian for advice for any meat-based ration

### Never feed these foods

Chocolate, onion, garlic, leek, grapes, alcohol, caffeine, xylitol, cooked bones and many human medications are toxic to cats. In case of suspected ingestion, contact a veterinarian quickly.
