# Feeding your American Shorthair well
United States
Depending on its body type and daily activity, the American Shorthair consumes on average 45 to 90 grams of kibble per day depending on its weight. The ration must be adjusted and monitored due to its predisposition to obesity.
A menu for every age
## Their needs change as they grow
- Kitten: Choose a complete food for growth, rich in animal proteins, divided into several small meals.
- Adult: Adjust the ration to activity and neutering while regularly monitoring body condition.
- Senior: Have the weight, teeth and kidney function checked, then adapt the food to age and any possible pathologies.
