Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde (SV) e.V. Von der Zeder breeds Old German Shepherd Dogs in Mainz. The aim is to produce healthy, socially compatible, even-tempered and friendly dogs that are suited to dog sports as well as family life and are easy to handle in everyday situations. The breeding programme is affiliated with the Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde (SV) e.V. The connection with Shepherd Dogs goes back to childhood. For around 24 years, training, work and breeding have shaped the relationship with the breed. Litters are planned only rarely and deliberately; in 2023, the eighth litter was raised. Prerequisites are the female dog's health and character suitability, as well as all breeding-relevant examinations. From the very beginning, the puppies grow up in a varied environment at a riding stable. There, they become familiar with visitors, other animal species, everyday sounds and different environmental influences. This early socialisation prepares them for a wide range of situations in later life.
