Its name refers to the property, whose densely overgrown area lies between two branches of the Schunter and thus has the character of a small island. The kennel name „von der Schunterinsel FCI“ was recognized in January 2020. In June 2022, the A-litter was born, followed by the B-litter in November 2023. A C-litter was planned for summer 2025. These dates trace the previous development of the breeding program and provide an insight into the planned continuation of the dachshund breeding program. The focus of the breeding program is on dachshunds. The natural setting by the river and the vegetation-covered surroundings shape the origin of the kennel name.
