Verein für Deutsche Spitze e.V. Gegr. 1899 The von den Drei Hohen Birken kennel in Essen is dedicated to the German Spitz, especially the Medium Spitz. The first litter was born at the end of 2014. In view of the small population and limited gene pool of this traditional German breed, the kennel aims to contribute to its preservation. It is affiliated with the Verein für Deutsche Spitze e.V. Gegr. 1899. The puppies grow up in the pack and are prepared for everyday life in a varied way. Contacts with people of different age groups, other dogs, road traffic, a shopping centre and the animals of a horse stable are part of their experiences. Assignments as prospective visiting and MediDogs also accompany their socialisation. Moving to a new family takes place no earlier than from the tenth week. In addition to the dogs’ temperament, the kennel places importance on well-considered breeding planning. Different colours, the refreshing of bloodlines and cross-variety matings are taken into account. Genetic examinations accompany individual litters, including in connection with von Willebrand disease. Some offspring remain in the pack in order to continue the breeding programme in the long term.
