The vom Recheder Feld kennel in Olfen is dedicated to the Hovawart. The breeding program began in 1994 with the acquisition of a first Hovawart female. This female produced the A-litter; a female offspring from this first litter subsequently remained at the kennel. The year 1997 marked a severe setback, as both the first female and her daughter, who had remained in the breeding program, died. Nevertheless, the experiences from the first years and from the A-litter form an important part of the history of the vom Recheder Feld. Shortly after this loss, a third female joined the breeding program. With her, the B-litter could be raised. Thus, Hovawart breeding in Olfen was continued and its development builds on the first litters and the experience gained there.
