Kennel Vilslev in Holsted has bred Irish Setters since 1976, focusing on dogs that can perform in the hunting field, at trials and in the show ring. The breeding programme strives to combine a beautiful appearance with enthusiasm for work and versatile qualities in the breed. The breeding is based on a strong female line reaching back four generations, in which the breeding bitches are described as top dogs. On the male side, stud dogs from Germany, France and Denmark have been used to strengthen the puppies’ mental qualities, hunting drive, pointing instinct and trainability. Kennel Vilslev also places emphasis on the Irish Setter’s friendly and sociable nature as a family dog.
