v.d.Mergelhoeve is a dog kennel in Nuth with a certification from the Raad van Beheer. The kennel can look back on more than twenty-five years of experience breeding Gordon Setters. This makes this breed an important part of the history of v.d.Mergelhoeve and of the experience built up with dogs.
For several years now, v.d.Mergelhoeve has been focusing on the Black and Tan Coonhound. The kennel is committed to introducing this dog breed in the Netherlands and creating a place for it. This new direction follows the long period in which the Gordon Setter was central within the breeding program.
Ending the breeding of Gordon Setters was related to the intensive care their coat requires. For that reason, v.d.Mergelhoeve has said goodbye to this breed and shifted its attention to the Black and Tan Coonhound. Thus, the current activity marks a clear change after more than a quarter of a century with Gordon Setters.
